Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask before they start using Kontari.

About the app

Is Kontari a bank?

No. Kontari doesn't move money, doesn't hold a banking license, and doesn't access your real accounts. It's a tool where you manually log your income and expenses to stay in control — like a ledger, but smart.

Do I need internet to use it?

No. Kontari works completely offline. All your data is stored and calculated on your own phone, no connection required.

How is it different from my bank's app?

Your bank's app only shows that one account, and it has an interest in selling you its own products. Kontari is neutral: you can bring together all your accounts, from any bank, and it will never recommend you sign up for anything.

Does it work on Android and iPhone?

Yes, it was designed for both from day one, with a look that adapts to each system (Apple's translucent glass on iPhone, Google's Material style on Android).

Privacy and security

Where is my data stored?

Only on your device — if you uninstall the app, the data disappears with it, not in the cloud. The only exception is if you voluntarily turn on "shared groups," which need to sync the group's expenses (only those, not the rest of your wallet) between its members. You can read the details in our privacy policy.

Do you share my data with third parties?

No, never. We don't use third-party analytics, we don't show ads, and we don't sell any kind of information. You can read the details in our privacy policy.

If I lose my phone, do I lose my data?

Yes — since it's only stored locally, there's no cloud backup by default. We recommend using the CSV export feature periodically as your own backup.

Can anyone who picks up my phone open the app?

Not if you turn on Face ID or fingerprint lock in Settings — Kontari will ask for biometric verification every time you open it.

Usage and features

How long until predictions are reliable?

The more months of data it has, the better. From the second or third month of use, it already starts showing estimates per category based on your real history.

Can I use it with a partner or family?

Yes — Kontari includes shared groups to see joint expenses without mixing real bank accounts.

How much does it cost?

The first version is free. If paid features are added in the future, it will be clearly announced, and never retroactively applied to what you already use for free.
